National Pet Shop Day was Saturday 12th July 2025
Pet owners have been relying on the dedicated, one-to-one support provided by their local pet shop for generations, and we believe this commitment to improving the wellbeing of the nation’s pets (and their owners) is something worth celebrating. We brought National Pet Shop Day back for a second year to show our appreciation to the UK’s independent pet product retailers, for their tireless work and commitment in caring for their local pet owning communities.
Why are we celebrating pet shops?
Pet shops and pet stores offer face-to-face advice that many pet owners rely on for the health and wellbeing of their pet. They are a crucial part of our local high streets, but with more cautious consumer spending placing pressure on businesses, it’s becoming increasingly important to use your local pet shop or store, or face losing them in the future.
National Pet Shop Day celebrates the ongoing contribution that pet shops and stores make to their local communities - championing their services, knowledge, and experience in supporting the nation’s pet owners.
How to get involved as retailers
Although National Pet Shop Day is over for 2025, we still want retailers to get involved. We’ll be announcing plans for 2026 in the New Year; however, this is the perfect time for you to start planning how you’re going to celebrate, brush up on our case studies to see what other stores did, and continue to provide the very best service for the nation’s pets.

How the public can get involved
The public were vital in celebrating National Pet Shop Day on Saturday 12th July 2025, with pet shop visitors receiving free goodies, entering competitions, and showing their support for their local pet stores and high streets.
You can still be involved with our mission by supporting your local pet shop or store until the next National Pet Shop Day. As always shops will be giving away free advice from their expert members of staff and providing products that the nations pets love.
